Reconfigurable Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are extensively employed in various application domains due to their flexibility, high-density functionality, high performance and low-cost development. However, the challenge that must be tackled during system design is their high susceptibility to the radiation induced faults such as Single Event Effects (SEEs). These radiation induced faults are a major concern in safety and mission critical systems such as automotive and avionics systems. In general, most of today's commercial off-the shelf (COTS) FPGAs are not designed to work under these harsh environments, except for specific circuits that have been radiation-hardened at the fabrication process level, but at a very high cost overhead, which makes them less interesting from an economic and performance point of view. The work presented in this manuscript is a contribution to a multi-partner project, aims to develop a low-cost reliable FPGA architecture with supporting EDA tool-suite that offers a complete environment for a fault tolerant system design.

Due to the launch safety constraints placed on university-built small satellites, designing a low-cost propulsion system to meet mission requirements presents a significant challenge to aspiring student engineers. The Missouri University of Science and Technology is currently developing a low-cost, two-phase propulsion system using the refrigerant R-134a as the propellant that can be stored at low pressures while still providing sufficient performance to meet mission goals. The purpose of this study is to present the testing results of a refrigerant-based cold gas system utilizing R-134a as a saturated liquid propellant and the ability to design this system to be portable to host buses at other universities. This work completed a preliminary design using R-134a and conducted parametric and endurance testing to validate R-134a as a safe and affordable propellant for university-class satellites. Based on these results, other universities can calculate the performance properties required by their propulsion system and use this information to size and construct a low-cost system capable of meeting their goals using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware.

Mit Hilfe von Wellenausbreitungsmodellen, wie das COST ? Walfisch ? Ikegami, Okumura ? Hata, COST ? Hata ? Modell und das Wellenausbreitungsmodell von Lee können die Reichweiten der einzelnen Systeme errechnet werden. Des Weiteren wird die Implementierung eines Übertragungssystems in eine bestehende mobile Anwendung dargestellt, wobei Messungen von Signalstärke, Datenrate und Fehlerrate in Abhängigkeit zur Distanz beschrieben werden.Die Arbeit richtet sich an all jene, die mobile Datenübertragungssysteme zu verstehen und auszulegen beabsichtigen.
