This study highlights the importance of need-based, purposefully designed and contextually relevant continuous teacher education for primary teachers to ensure accessible quality education. It highlights that professional development (PD) opportunities should also be offered to teachers of underprivileged areas because these teachers are low-paid, unable to afford the cost of professional development education and lack of motivation in this regards. The Education Foundation (TEF) is a Civil Society Not-for-profit Organization. It has been offering various courses for In-service teachers, TEF is networked with over100 schools located in underprivileged areas of Jamshed Town, Karachi. TEF is replacing traditional teacher-centered traditional teaching methods through the promotion of activity-based /student-centered teaching-learning process in it network schools. It is being done successfully through awareness raising and professional skills development course. The targeted thematic areas include the effective teaching strategies, development of low-cost/no-cost learning resources, innovative student-led activities and application of student-centered teaching approaches.
Titanium alloy and stainless steel finds widespread applications in different fields such as bio-medical, aerospace and electronics due to their superior physical properties (high strength, toughness, corrosion resistance and durability and low density). Due to their bio-compatibility in nature, they are used in the field of bio-medical engineering such as artificial bone joints, artificial knee joints and in dental fields. Drilling is one of the important machining processes involved in most of the application fields including bio-medical engineering. This study investigates the effect of drilling parameters on performance measures through development of numerical model using finite element approach. The numerical model is validated by experimental study. The parameters included for investigation are spindle speed, feed rate and drill diameter. The experimental plan is made using design of experiment approach, specifically a face centered central composite design of response surface methodology in order to reduce the experimental runs and reduce cost of experimentation.

The only historically Chinese area in New England, Chinatown, Boston is located in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. After residential properties in this area became less desirable due to railway developments, it was settled by a mixed succession of Irish, Jewish, Italian, Syrian, and Chinese immigrants. Each group replaced the previous one to take advantage of low-cost housing and job opportunities in the area. During the late-nineteenth century, garment manufacturing plants also moved into Chinatown, creating Boston's historic garment district. The garment district was active until the 1990s.
There has been a lot of interest around IPTV in recent years, and telco operators worldwide have responded by deploying IPTV solutions hoping to cash in. The main challenge that these IPTV solutions face however is that they face stiff competition from other, well established forms of television, which includes cable, satellite and low cost Internet Television. Hence in order to succeed, these IPTV solutions need strong service differentiators. This book therefore investigates the feasibility of deploying a low-cost, viewer focused IPTV solution using open source software. With most telco applications being hosted on expensive, third party service delivery platforms, it is proposed that the use of industry certified, open source service delivery platform, like the Mobicents Communications Platform, will help lower the cost of providing IPTV services. This book also goes on to argue that IPTV service providers can help their product sell better through viewer focused implementations and the use of innovative billing approaches. The resultant solution, aptly named COIN, is put forward by the authors as a possible solution to providing low cost, viewer focused IPTV
Utilization of biological waste in treatment of industrial effluents is an emerging field of research. In present context of waste management, bio-adsorbent based techniques are well-known as an eco-friendly approach, for cleaning up various industrial effluents. The efficiency of water hyacinth, as low cost bio-adsorbent has been investigated for removal of lead ions from aqueous solution. Equilibrium behavior of this adsorbent was investigated by performing batch adsorption experiments to study the effect of the major parameters such as contact time, initial concentration of metal ion and adsorbent dose, etc. Response surface methodology was applied to predict the optimal condition of lead ion removal. The correlation of the operating variables and the response based on face centered central composite design are fitted to quadratic polynomial equation. The quadratic term of initial metal ion concentration showed significant influence on the extent of removal. This work showed the potential of the water hyacinth as bio-adsorbent for removal of lead ions from paint industry effluent.
Copper nanoparticles have attracted a lot of interest in recent years due to their interesting properties, low cost preparation and many potential applications as catalysis, cooling fluid or conductive inks, and its biomedical property. Hydrothermal synthesis is considered to be a versatile approach for the synthesis of transition metals. Copper nanoparticles were synthesized through the hydrothermal method by the reduction of copper chloride with the surfactant SDS. Sodium dodecyl sulfate acts as a stabilizer. Hydrazine is also used as reducing agent. As prepared Copper nanoparticles were characterized by XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), TEM (Transmission electron microscopy), FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy), PSA (Particle size analyzer) and UV/Vis (UV-Visible spectrometer). The resultant particles were confirmed to be pure Cu with a face-centered cubic (FCC) structure. Copper layered cotton fabric was prepared using dip coating method. The copper nanoparticles were homogenously coated on the cotton fabric and its antimicrobial activity was studied.
